hints concerning your trip!!!

Here you will find some usefull information concerning your trip to Poland.
There are several airlines flying to Poland from Finland(for instance LOT,Finnair,Blue1,Wizzair,SAS). Down the page you'll find some links to few of these airlines, normally Blue 1 has had good prices but also all of them have often good deals going on, so keep your eyes open. Wizzair will start in April its flights straight from Turku to Gdansk but atleast in the beginning they'll fly only on ***WEDNESDAYS AND SUNDAYS. Trip from Gdansk to Miedzyrzec Podlaski is also a bit longer than trip from Warsaw, but if you're not in rush this is a good choice because Wizzair's prices are amazingly low.
***since July Wizzair fly 3 times a week- Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

When flying to Warsaw Airport:
Warsaw Airport has two terminals (Etiuda and terminal no1). It’d be usefull to check what terminal you are flying to.
We are also trying to arrange so that at the time when most of the guests will arrive, there will be somebody to meet this group at the airport and travel to miedzyrzec podlaski with them. Or direct them to train/bus.
If you want to travel to Miedzyrzec Podlaski by train (which we recommend), you need to get to Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna). You can get there by bus or taxi.
-From Airport to Central Train station by Bus: You need to take a bus number 175 which leaves just from terminal of the airport. Bus ticket- 1 adult 2.60 zl (less than 1EUR). You can buy bus ticket in kiosk at the airport. Reserve a bit more than half an hour for this trip. Trip is very easy to make since all the stops are shown on the wall of the buss and you can all the time see what is the next stop. You need to get off at the stop of "Dworzec Centralny", which is just at the central station.
- When using taxi: make sure that you will get the one on which it says "radio taxi" or the one which is ordered through the radio by a person on taxi parking outside the airport (normaly it says on the car that it is radio taxi). It is better to use "radio taxi" thus they happen to be about 4 times cheaper than privates. The costs of traveling are presented below. Prices are only orientational and might differ a bit from this that you will have to pay.
For taxi- trip should cost between 25-40 zl (about 10-12 EUR) and it should take about 20 min.
There are ATMs at the airport. IMPORTANT:Always ask the driver before getting in to the taxi, what is the price he wants to drive you to "Centaralna"!!!that way you'll have no unfortunate surprices.
When on central station, you must find a place where you will buy train ticket. Follow signs that say: kasa biletowa, or hol główny. In these places you will be able to buy your ticket.
Trains- in Poland we have few kinds of trains: Intercity (Express), Fast train (pospieszny) and slow trains (osobowy). So far we have not heard of any Intercity trains which are going on the route Warszawa-Miedzyrzec Podlaski. What we recommend is to take fast train (pospieszny). It will cost about 35 zl (10EUR) and your trip will take about 2 hours. If you travel with family (kids included), you can ask for discount. Cashier ladies do not often talk english at all but there is a tourist info at the station just behind the cashiers at the main hall of the station. And you can always write on paper for instance "Miedzyrzec Podlaski, pospieszny,w jedna strone"(one way).
Here you can check your train connection (in English):

Trains without change are leaving at: on Saturday: 06.10, 11.15, on Friday: 06.10, 11.15, 15.30.16.25, 17.30, 20.25 . If these hours don’t fit your schedule, contact us, we’ll find solution.
There are also trains with change, they leave more often but trip can take longer. For more information check schedule via link above.
It is good to be on the platform about 5-10 minutes before train is supposed to leave, thus you can pick your seat. Sometimes there is really lot of people traveling.
When you will get to Miedzyrzec Podlaski proceed to your accomodation(which you will be notified about during June, after we know who all are coming) or get in touch with the person who will give you all needed information.
Remember, Warsaw train station and trains do not belong to the safetest.
2. When traveling to Miedzyrzec Podlaski by bus. You need to get from the aiport to Bus station "Stadion DA. ". We normaly don’t use busses to get to Miedzyrzec Podlaski so there is no idea about bus connection to this station. Taxi should cost between 30-50 zl (10-15EUR) !!!RADIO TAXI* read above why!!! . Trip by taxi should take about 20-25 minutes. If you really intend to make the trip from warsaw to miedzyrzec podlaski by bus, dont hesitate to ask us for help.

When flying to Gdansk airport:

So far Wizzair seems to fly according to it’s schedule. Even though it seems that your flight is supposed to be in Gdansk at 16.45 on Wednesday, it is risky to try to get to the wedding place the same day( not recomended, trip can take even 13 hours).
When you arrive to Airport you can get to center with taxi or bus.
If you stay in Gdansk we recommend to see Starówka (old town).
Also if you plan to spend few days in Polish sea side, you can go easily from Gdansk to see Gdynia or sopot, they are very nice sea towns.
How to get from Gdańsk to Miedzyrzec Podlaski by train. Depends where is your accomodation located it is either easier to go from Gdańsk Główny train station (main train station in Gdańsk, close to center) or Gdańsk Oliwa train station ( which is located a bit closer to airport than Gdańsk Główny).

You are going from: gdańsk oliwa/ gdańsk główny
To: międzyrzec podlaski
Via: Warszawa Wschodnia
!!!! If there is situation that you have a lot of time in Warsaw to change trains, go to Warszawa Centralna (Central train station). There is nothing in Warszawa Wschodnia station, so even taking nice dinner is quite difficult in this area. !!!

To Poland through Tallin ( by ferry and bus):
You can also travel to Poland by buss leaving from Tallin. The buss company is called EURO LINES. The trip will take a bit more than 17 hours and you will need to change the buss in Riga. Cost of the return ticket is somewhere around 100 euros. So, first the ferry to Tallin, taxi to Tallin buss terminal and then just to buss and to Warsaw. In warsaw you'll get out at the buss station from where you can either continue with train, or proceed to bus station called "Stadion D.A" and continue your trip with bus.
